The outer bands of Hurricane Matthew have begun drenching Florida's East Coast as the catergory four storm advances towards the South East Coast of the United States. FOX News reports that a state of emergency has been declared in Florida. Florida's Governor has urged residents of the states 580 mile coastline to leave immediately. As of 2pm EDT the storm was 125 miles southeast of West Palm Beach and moving at 14 mph. Forecasters predict the hurricane to make landfall Thursday night or early Friday morning and may ride the eastern US coast as far up as South Carolina.
If you have friends or family along the southern east coast, now would be a good time to get in touch with them and say a prayer.
