No clowing around here. A "Clown Lives Matter" march is planned in Tucson, Arizona on October 15th. Nikki Sinn, the event's organizer, wants to show the public that real clowns are not scary murderers. As the event flier states, "This is a peaceful walk to show clowns are not psycho killers. We want the public to feel safe and not be afraid. So come out, bring the family, meet a clown and get a hug!" Participants are encouraged to wear full clown makeup or masks.
Sinn also states that she is no way trying to disrespect the BLM movement.
The march, however, has received a fair share of criticism. According to The Arizona Republic, Rev. Reginald Walton, chariman of the Arizona Black Lives Matter campaign, called the event's name insensitive and said it takes away from a serious national issue.
Sinn calls the event innocent and said it's simply to make people aware that clowns aren't scary.
